Sakura with Mangekyo Sharingan

A friend of mine is in the process of making a Naruto fanfic involving Sakura getting her own Sharingan eyes. He told me to draw this and then post this preview summary of the first few chapters.

Synopsis of the Beginning Chapters:

The fanfic takes place when Madara is about to complete his plans involving the tailed beasts. He first sends Sasuke and Kabutomaru to bring Naruto to him, and the two of them attack Konoha in an attempt to do so.

Kabutomaru sees an opportunity to try and steal Sasuke's body as the latter is fighting Naruto and Sakura. Sasuke uses his Mangekyo Sharingan techniques against the duo, proving to be quite the match for them.

Just as the fight is tipped in Sasuke's favor, Kabutomaru tells him all about Madara's involvement in the Uchiha Clan massacre (As he learns of it in this fanfic). This catches Sasuke completely off guard, and he is bewildered that someone that he felt was the only one he could trust had been the one behind almost everything bad that happened to him.

He asks Kabutomaru why he's telling him this, and he responds that it simply doesn't matter because Sasuke will now be his, using Living Corpse Reincarnation on him.

Just as Sasuke is about to be taken over, he uses his Mangekyo Sharingan to very shortly break the genjutsu Kabutomaru used, and puts Kabutomaru under Tsukuyomi to briefly stop the technique. However, Sasuke is weakened from abusing the Mangekyo Sharingan during his fight with Naruto and Sakura, and he cannot reverse it like last time. He uses what little time he has to rip out both eyes, throwing them to Sakura as Naruto is unconscious from their recent battle in hopes that they will both stop Kabutomaru and Madara.

Tsunade and Kakashi both arrive to find Naruto unconscious and Sakura traumatized, and Kakashi sees the Sharingan in her hands hands. Realizing what has happened, he instructs Sakura to use her medical ninjutsu to place them into her eyes. Because he was under the effects of Sasuke's Tsukuyomi while Sasuke ripped out his eyes and chucked them in Sakura's direction, Kabutomaru doesn't know that Sakura has Sasuke's Sharingan.

Kabuto recovers from Tsukuyomi as Sasuke cannot keep it going in his weakened state, and takes over Sasuke's body. He is blind due to Sasuke's last conscious actions and screams out where the Sharingan are.

Tsunade tells Kakashi to take Sakura somewhere safe while she fights off Kabutomaru. In an act of desperation, Kabutomaru summons the corpses of Minato and Jiraiya using Summoning: Impure World Resurrection. Kakashi gets away with Naruto and Sakura just before the corpses proceed to kill Tsunade in combat, as she is no match for the combined might of the Fourth Hokage and her former fellow Sannin. Madara then calls Kabutomaru back to his lair, and he unsummons the corpses to oblige as he must find out where Sasuke's Sharingan went to obtain it back, something he can only do with Madara's help.

The death of Tsunade is seen by Sakura just before Kakashi fully escapes with her and Naruto, and it has as much of an impact on Sakura as Jiraiya's death had on Naruto, if not worse. Tsunade had been Sakura's mentor, teacher, and best friend for three years, and continued to be one of her best friends after their training. The Fifth Hokage's death grants Sakura the ability to awaken Mangekyo Sharingan because of this.

As Naruto is recovering, Kakashi immediately begins giving Sakura special training involving the Sharingan and how to use them. One of his lessons are on invoking Mangekyo Sharingan using the same technique he did for his own. He explains that he gained the ability to awaken Mangekyo when Rin died, and that it took him many years to find out exactly how to activate it, thus gaining the knowledge he uses to train Sakura how to activate Mangekyo Sharingan.

As Sakura finishes her training with Kakashi, both she and Naruto face a great, terrible, and uncertain fight ahead of them, as they must put a stop to Madara's plans while trying to bring peace to the ninja world! (This is only a synopsis of the first few chapters)

Sakura's Sharingan Abilities:

As Kakashi developed Kamui (A unique technique of his Mangekyo Sharingan) in his single Sharingan eye, Sakura develops two such unique techniques of her own in my friend's fanfic, with one of the two techniques in each eye.

Whenever she uses any of her Mangekyo techniques, she experiences great pain and slightly blurred vision in her eyes, and almost always results in uncontrollable tears being formed as a natural reaction to it (As seen in the drawing above). To use either of her Mangekyo abilities, Sakura must look into an eye of her target using the eye of the technique, and there are no other ways they can be triggered.

While not in use of Mangekyo, she can deactivate her eyes despite the fact that she is not an Uchiha, negating the need for any kind of blindfold. However, this is only because of her highly-advanced control over chakra that was taught to her by Tsunade's medical-nin training. Sakura's Sharingan still requires a slightly greater amount of chakra than an Uchiha to deactivate, placing her between Kakashi and an Uchiha in terms of control over her Sharingan.

Kakashi deems her an almost greater Sharingan user than himself at the end of their training, estimating that with much experienced use she could possibly meet or surpass Sasuke's level of control over the Sharingan.

Sakura's first Mangekyo technique: Uzume

Sakura's right eye contains a genjutsu almost as powerful as Tsukuyomi that plays on positive emotions of the user. Uzume is a genjutsu where, instead of providing a frightening, painful, or otherwise negative illusion (Like most genjutsu are known for), it provides a pleasant one that attempts to lull the target into a false sense of security. Uzume is noted by Kakashi during its first activation in his training to induce euphoria in its targets, making it difficult to concentrate on breaking the genjutsu.

The illusion that occurs is of the user's choosing, instead of working off the enemy's emotions. Without previous knowledge of the target and their goals or desires, this genjutsu can be easily recognized, but the basic Sharingan's ability to read minds can mostly offset this if she does so before activating Uzume.

While it is not exactly on the level of Tsukuyomi in power, this is partly because it can be broken by anyone who controls their chakra well enough instead of only members of the Uchiha Clan who do so. It still takes an enormous amount of chakra control to break, and it is slightly less than that required to break Tsukuyomi. It can also be used beneficially on allies due to its nature, proving very useful in instances where applicable.

Sakura's second Mangekyo technique: Okuninushi

The second of the two techniques, it is contained in Sakura's left eye. Okuninushi is a medical ninjutsu that links the life-force and chakra of the user and their target, acting as one pool of the combined life force and chakra of both involved.

Whenever one is affected by damage, healing, and chakra depletion or gain, so is the other. Any feelings, emotions, or senses (Such as sight or smell) felt by one of the involved will also be shared in the link. When the effect ends, if neither are dead, then any of their remaining shared chakra and life-force will be split evenly between both involved. If one of the involved die before the effect ends, the other will die with them.

The scope of Okuninushi is not affected by distance or sight, so close-range medical ninjutsu or damage can cause their effects on the other from anywhere travelling through the link. It can even work through barriers, both real and perceived, as long as the damage or healing is successful on one of the involved.

Okuninushi can keep someone who is near death from dying as long as the user remains alive and the link is maintained, as the technique combines the remaining life force of both involved. However, by itself Okuninushi has no ability to heal or damage.

The nature of this technique makes Okuninushi a double-edged sword for whomever is involved; The only advantages it provides are increased range of damage and healing done to the involved, intangibility of said damage and healing once the link is established, and the sharing of vitality among the involved.

There is one major drawback that is not inherently obvious from the nature of the technique: Every time it is used, half a year is taken off the remaining lifespan of the user and their target.

Sakura's Mangekyo Sharingan has somewhat of a complex flower shape in my friend's fanfic, as seen here. The design is also based on one that I regularly make as latte art at a coffee bar I work at (Except that the flower I make doesn't have a pupil, and the petals are connected to each other at the center instead)
